Legal Aid
At your first meeting with the Divorce and Separation Centre we will tell you if you are eligible for Legal Aid. If you meet the criteria then mediation is provided free of charge.
It is important that you bring proof of your earnings and savings with you to your first meeting. There are allowable deductions which will be taken into consideration such as:
- Income tax and National Insurance contributions
- Mortgage or rental payments
- Costs for childcare and maintenance
- Standard allowance if you are not working
Whether you qualify for Legal Aid or not you are free to make up your mind about continuing with mediation at this meeting.
